TREGONING & COMPANY WELCOMES TEXTILE ARTIST, LIBBY CHANEY
“I | TRAVEL | EYE” Exhibition Runs Through August, 2011

Libby is a Cleveland-born San Francisco textile artist working with patterned fabrics and recycled cloth, assembled through hand and machine stitching. Libby's great grandmothers were seamstresses, her grandmother a milliner, and her grandfather was an officer in a textile mill in Cleveland. She has sewn "forever" and art-worked with textiles since the 60's.

Chaney's sophisticated fabric assemblages compel your eye to travel around each work savoring both subtle details and grand conception.

Libby Chaney will offer lively comments on her art and career during our Exhibit opening. Do join us June 17th 2011 for another THIRD FRIDAY at the 78th Street Studios!

5 - 9 pm

Open to the public

A STATEMENT BY THE ARTIST

My art is an invitation to tour a flexible destiny. I want harmony or a sense of play in my compositions. Structures I make and paths that connect are only suggestions. Stitches are textures, or steps on the journey, tiny trails of color.

I love color.

I bring together time, place and sensibility with the cloth from my collection. Here is unity and new life from diversity.

These works are not meant to be another problem you need to solve! Neither are they purely decoration. The are meant as a meditation for the eye, to which you can bring your heart and your mind.
